
January 2025 – April 2025 | DemDx Clinical Release Notes – updates based on NICE guidance updates
All new NICE Guidance updates in the last quarter have been reviewed by the DemDx Clinical Governance committee to ensure our clinical content remains up to date and complies with national best practice. The following topics were deemed to be relevant to primary care and changes have been made to align DemDx platform content with the latest clinical guidance.
Epilepsies in Children and Adults (NG217)
• New guidance on contraception for males and females on anti-seizure medication added.
• New advice on Sodium valproate initiation in under-55s requiring two specialists.
Gambling-Related Harms (NG248)
• New guidance to enquire about gambling in relevant mental health contexts (e.g., self-harm, ADHD, Parkinson's on dopamine agonists).
• New guidance to navigate to gambling support resources.
Nutrition in Pregnancy & Young Children (NG247)
• Updated advice on folic acid and Vitamin D supplementation in pregnancy.
• New advice on the importance of giving lifestyle advice on healthy eating, exercise, and weight management.
Plantar Fasciitis (NICE)
• New guidance on the consideration of imaging if symptoms are unexplained or persistent.
Thyroid Disease (NICE)
• Guidance aligning with 2023 NICE guidelines on when to test thyroid function.
