
January 2026 – April 2026 | DemDx Clinical Release Notes – updates based on NICE guidance updates
As part of our ongoing Clinical Governance process, DemDx reviews new and updated NICE guidance to ensure our clinical content remains current and aligned with national best practice.
All relevant NICE guidance updates published between January and April 2026 were reviewed by the DemDx Clinical Governance team.
Clinical content updates:
Obstructive sleep apnoea syndrome
• NICE CKS updated its guidance to include additional advice on urgent sleep clinic referral for adults with suspected obstructive sleep apnoea syndrome (OSAS) who have a learning disability or autism, alongside additional occupational, driving and injury-risk considerations.
• DemDx content reviewed and updated in line with NICE guidance.
Palpitations
• NICE CKS added information regarding the use of patient-activated ECG devices for patients experiencing intermittent palpitations.
• Following clinical review, the DemDx was updated to include optional patient-activated handheld ECG or ECG-capable wearable recording, according to clinical judgement. Existing ECG, ambulatory monitoring and cardiology referral advice has been retained.
• DemDx content reviewed and updated in line with NICE guidance.
Contraception – intrauterine contraception
• NICE CKS expanded its advice on follow-up following intrauterine contraception, including assessment of new-onset pelvic pain, missing threads and potential complications such as uterine perforation, infection and ectopic pregnancy.
• DemDx was updated to include pregnancy assessment, consideration of ectopic pregnancy, infection and malposition, and advice regarding ultrasound, referral and follow-up.
• DemDx content reviewed and updated in line with NICE guidance.

No changes to DemDx clinical content were required following these updates.
DemDx will continue to review new and updated NICE and national clinical guidance through our Clinical Governance process, with relevant changes incorporated into clinical content following appropriate clinical review and testing.
