Professor Miles Stanford

Professor Miles Stanford is currently Chair of Clinical Ophthalmology, at GSTT NHS Foundation Trust and holds posts mainly at St Thomas’ Hospital. He trained at St Thomas’ and King’s College Hospitals as well as undertaking original research into the mechanisms underlying uveitis for his post-doctoral thesis. He has published over 180 peer-reviewed articles and contributed to more than 30 book chapters. He is founder and chairman of the British Ophthalmological Surveillance Unit, a unique unit that studies that epidemiology of rare ophthalmic diseases in the UK.

Dr Richard Wolfe

Dr. Richard E. Wolfe is Chief of  Emergency Medicine at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center and Associate Professor of Medicine at Harvard Medical School. An active clinician and teacher, Dr. Wolfe was previously director of the residency in emergency medicine at Brigham and Women’s Hospital and served as chair of the Education Committee for the American College of Emergency Physicians. He is currently a member of the Emergency Medicine Connections task force. The Emergency Medicine Department at BIDMC currently supports a strong basic and translational research program in sepsis and endothelial dysfunction at the Center for Vascular Biology Research. Dr. Wolfe’s research interests include ultrasound applications in emergency medicine, use of the laboratory in the evaluation of sepsis, and education and structure in postgraduate emergency medicine training.

Dr Jessica Doctor

Jessica is due to complete specialty training in genitourinary medicine this year at Guy’s and St Thomas’ Hospital, as well as her masters in population Health at UCL.  She has a keen interest in education , having finished the post graduate certificate in Clinical Education from Kings in 2019.

Dr Sandher Raveen

Raveen Kaur Sandher was awarded a first class BMedSci with honours and her subsequent medical degree from Sheffield University in 2007. She started a NHIR Academic Clinical Fellowship in 2009 at the Freeman Hospital, Newcastle Upon Tyne. She conducted research funded by CRUK, Royal College of Surgeons of England and The Urology Foundation. Her surgical training took her to the Freeman Hospital, Newcastle Upon Tyne where she developed an interest in Fertility, Andrology and Genito-Urethral reconstruction. She gained a Postgraduate Certificate in Clinical Research from Newcastle University in 2011. Her urological training took place in the North-East of England, and was completed in 2019. Post CCT Fellowship training took place at Guy’s and St Thomas’ Hospitals and she has recently been appointed as a Consultant Urological Surgeon with a special interest in Andrology and GU reconstruction at Guy’s Hospital.

Dr Talal Fael Al-Mayhani

Born and raised in Aleppo, Syria, Talal read medicine and graduated with MD from the University of Aleppo, and PhD from the University of Cambridge.He currently works as a neurology doctor in London, and tutors neurology, neuroscience and neuroanatomy at UCL and Cambridge. Talal roamed outside the realm of medicine and neurology for years, venturing in politics, consulting business, intellectual and literary writing, editing, publishing, NGO work, social research and wet lab research a neurologist. In his free time he enjoys reading, writing, painting, eating good food, travelling and collecting antiques.

Dr Oliver Tavabie

Oliver underwent his undergraduate medical training at the University of Southampton where he intercalated in Biomedical Science. He has subsequently pursued a career in gastroenterology with a special interest in liver disease and is currently undertaking a higher degree focusing on outcome prediction in liver disease. He has a keen interest in medical education following his Academic Foundation role at the Royal Bolton Hospital which led to appointment at the University of St Andrews as a Medical Demonstrator. Subsequent roles include member of the MRCP part 2 exam board and British Association for the Study of the Liver Trainee Representative.

Dr Pat O’Brien

Dr O’Brien is a Consultant & Honorary Senior Lecturer in Obstetrics and Gynaecology at University College London Hospitals. He specialises in Maternal Medicine and high-risk obstetrics, and at UCLH jointly runs a multi-disciplinary antenatal clinic involving consultants in Fetal Medicine, Cardiology, Haematology, Diabetes, Anaesthesia, and an Obstetric Physician. He is the Chair of the International Division of the Institute for Women’s Health in London, a reviewer for the Cochrane Collaboration and several medical journals and sits on the Editorial Boards of the Journal of Obstetrics & Gynaecology and the BJM. He has been a member of the obstetric guideline development group of the National Institute for Clinical Excellence in the UK.

Dr David Treacher

Dr Treacher is clinical lead for the critical care collection at King's. Based at Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust, Dr Treacher is also sub-dean of teaching at St Thomas’ site Guy’s, King’s and St Thomas’ School of Medicine. With a background as a physician, particularly within respiratory medicine, Dr Treacher’s career has been spent almost entirely within the field of critical care.

Dr Nicholas Fuggle

Dr Fuggle is a Dunhill Medical Trust research fellow and rheumatology registrar at the MRC Lifecourse Epidemiology Unit (LEU), University of Southampton. After completing his medical degree and intercalated BSc at Imperial College and a clinical research fellowship at St George’s University London he was awarded an NIHR academic clinical fellowship in rheumatology at the MRC LEU. His current research centres on the epidemiology of musculoskeletal diseases within the Hertfordshire Cohort (a group of community-dwelling older adults) and focuses on the epigenetic determinants of accelerated ageing and using imaging processing to analyse musculoskeletal imaging modalities.

Dr Rabia Zill-e-Huma

Dr Rabia Zill-e-Huma is a Consultant Obstetrician at Lister Hospital, Stevenage. She has special interest in Maternal Medicine, high risk obstetrics and labour ward. She has received her Maternal Medicine training at Addenbrookes Hospital, Cambridge and recently worked as Maternal Medicine Fellow at University College London Hospital. Her research experience includes participation in the study exploring women’s views on pre-conception counselling with pre-existing diabetes and recent participation in study exploring diagnosis of pre-eclampsia at Cambridge University Hospital. She has great passion for teaching and training and has been faculty member of MRCOG preparation courses at Cambridge and Whittington Hospital, London and simulation courses in O&G at postgraduate centre Cambridge.

Mr Roland Walker

Mr Roland Walker is a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon at Guy’s and St Thomas’ Hospital. He is a former anatomy demonstrator at Kings College Medical School and has maintained close links with the medical school ever since. Mr Walker currently co-ordinates the undergraduate teaching program in orthopaedics within the Trust. He has 10 years experience examining undergraduate OSCEs and is currently studying for a PGCert in Medical Education.

Dr Priya Verma

Dr Priya Verma is an Academic Clinical Fellow in General Practice at Guys and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust. Priya completed her BSc in Biomedical Science at the University of Warwick before going on to do postgraduate Medicine at Warwick Medical School. Priya has a particular interest in healthcare innovation and medical technology applications in primary care which is the main focus of her current NIHR research fellowship at King’s College London. Priya is also currently studying towards a postgraduate diploma in Applied Research Methods and Statistics at King’s. Priya is keen to embrace the technology revolution and explore its potential impact on our healthcare service and most importantly the end users, i.e. patients.

Dr Mary Sommerlad

Dr Mary Sommerlad is a final year specialist registrar in Dermatology at the Royal Free Hospital. She completed her undergraduate medical training at UCL. Her background includes a First class intercalated BSc. in Immunology for which she was awarded the British Society of Immunology Undergraduate Prize for her research project. Her interests include paediatric dermatology and the relationship between the immune system and skin disease. Outside of medicine her interests include travelling and all things food related!

Dr Panos Prevezanos

Panos studied nursing at the University of Athens and medicine at the University of Malta before moving to England for his postgraduate medical training. He is currently a higher trainee in general adult psychiatry and a medical education fellow at HEE Wessex. He is also studying towards an MA in medical education at the University of Winchester. Dr Miguel Pereira received his medical training at the University of Lisbon and completed 3 years of specialty training in ENT in Portugal before undertaking a clinical research fellowship at the Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary, USA. Dr Catherine Orteu

Dr Orteu was educated at the Lyçée Français de Londres and trained in Medicine at the London Hospital Medical College, qualifying in 1987. She undertook Dermatology training at the Royal Free and Royal London Hospitals (CCST 1999) and received her MD in immunodermatology awarded in 1999 after 2 years as a Jules Thorne Research Fellow. She was UK trainee representative to the British Association of Dermatologists 1997-1999. Thanks to the award of a Geoffrey Dowling Fellowship, she spent a year as a clinical research fellow in Connective Tissue disease and Immunodermatology at the University of British Columbia (2000). She was appointed as a Consultant Dermatologist at the Royal Free Hospital in January 2001. She is a past president of The Saint John’s Dermatological Society and a founding member of the British Society for Medical Dermatology.

Dr Danielle Hall

Despite being the only girl to fail the school Religious Education exam in Year 7, Dani persevered in her academic studies graduating from Oxford and London Universities, and is fulfilling her dream job as a Paediatric Emergency Medicine Consultant at the Evelina London Children’s Hospital. When she isn’t busy making packed lunches or rushing her two monkeys between football and clarinet lessons she can usually be found in the Emergency Department or teaching undergraduate or postgraduate students (her other passion).  She has a particular interest in simulation training and is using this to form the bulk of her masters in medical education (when the kids actually let her near the laptop).

Dr Shweta Gidwani

Dr Shweta Gidwani is an Emergency Medicine and Trauma Consultant at Chelsea & Westminster NHS Hospital, London and currently the Research Lead for Emergency & Intergrated Care at her hospital. An active educator of international standing, Dr Gidwani is also an adjunct Associate Professorship in the International Emergency Medicine Division at George Washington University, USA. She has been actively involved in setting up and delivering one of the largest emergency medicine capacity building projects in India and as core faculty to the Masters in Emergency Medicine by George Washington University, she has helped train 300+ emergency medicine doctors in India. She is passionate about using digital technology to enhance access to world class education to frontline healthcare workers, particularly in SE Asia and has successfully created a free evidence based medical education app that has over several 10,000 downloads from 150+ countries. She is enthusiastic about her role with DemDx and is focused on partnering with academic hospital and teaching institutes in SE Asia to roll out DemDx to junior doctors.

Dr James Galloway

Dr Galloway is a clinical lecturer at King’s College London and an honorary consultant in rheumatology at King’s College Hospital. He runs the biologics assessment service for the rheumatology department. His research background has been in the study of biologic therapy safety. Within his role for KCL, he works in the CRC accredited King’s Clinical Trials Unit which has a large portfolio of investigator led trials. He also runs a phase 1 clinic in collaboration with the BRC facility and the Quintiles MHRA accredited Early Phase clinical trials unit at Guy’s Hospital.

Professor Michael Frenneaux

Professor Michael Frenneaux qualified from Westminster Medical School in 1980. He was the British Heart Foundation (BHF) Sir Thomas Lewis Chair of Cardiology in Cardiff and BHF Chair of Cardiology in Birmingham before being appointed to the Regius Chair of Medicine in Aberdeen in 2009 – this is the oldest Chair of Medicine in the English speaking world (established in 1497) and is appointed by the Queen. In January 2015, Professor Frenneaux took up the post of Dean of Norwich Medical School at University of East Anglia. Professor Frenneaux is a clinical scientist with interests in heart failure and heart muscle disease. His research is bed-to-bench and back to bedside. He is an integrated physiologist with wide interests, including the inorganic nitrate/nitrite axis, cardiac energetic impairment and metabolic therapies, vascular physiology as well as inter-ventricular and ventriculo-vascular coupling.

Dr Sanad Esmail

Dr Esmail graduated from The University of Wales, College of Medicine in 2012 with honours, after also having completed a BSc in Neuroscience. After a 2-year foundation programme in Cardiff, he entered core medical training in the London Deanery in 2014 attaining his MRCP (UK) diploma. Currently, he is working at Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS trust, London, as a second year core medical trainee. Dr Esmail has a passion for teaching and academia. Ultimately this inspired him to publish a question-writing book to help prepare medical students sitting their written finals (‘How to Pass Finals: Single Best Answers in Medicine’). Outside work, his interests include playing football and other sports.

Dr Ann Donnelly

Dr Donnelly moved from Ireland to train at the University of Glasgow Medical School, completing a BSc in Clinical Neuroscience. Since graduation she has trained in London, completing her general medical training at King’s College Hospital. She is currently working at Guys and St Thomas NHS Trust, where she is developing her experience in medical education as well as completion of her specialty training. She has extensive publishing experience, as a Clinical Editor at BMJ Learning, and later at BioMed Central, heading the high end Medical Acquisitions Program, leading the launch of Alzheimer’s Research & Therapy, Stem Cell Research & Therapy, and Molecular Autism.

Tessa Davis is a Paediatrician specialising in Paediatric Emergency Medicine. She creates and delivers online learning resources for healthcare professionals. Tessa is passionate about the use of social networks and technology to improve patient care. She is a media commentator for child health issues and speaks about paediatrics and technology at conferences all over the world. Tessa is currently working in London. In 2015 Tessa won the NSW Minister for Health Registrar of the Year Award.

Dr Gemma Cummins

Dr Gemma Cummins is a specialist registrar (ST5) in neurology at the National Hospital of Neurology and Neurosurgery, London. She graduated from the National University of Ireland, Galway. She subsequently worked as neurology house officer in Ireland and New Zealand before completing a one year post as a clinical lecturer and registrar at the Dublin Neurological Institute. She did a clinical research fellowship in Cambridge, where her research focused on movement disorders and associated cognitive and neuropsychiatric symptoms. She is currently a neurology trainee in the East of England deanery. She previously worked as a journal reviews editor on the ACNR neurology journal.

Dr Paul Carroll

Dr Paul Carroll has been a Consultant Endocrinologist at Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust since 2003. He qualified from Trinity College Dublin and trained in Endocrinology at St. Bartholomew’s and St. Thomas’ Hospitals in London developing particular interests in pituitary, adrenal and thyroid disease. In 2000 he was awarded a doctorate (University of London) and has written over 50 research papers and many textbook chapters.

Dr Clive B Archer

Dr Clive B Archer, BSc, MB BS, MSc Med Ed, MD (Lond), PhD, FRCP is Consultant Dermatologist at the St John’s Institute of Dermatology, Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust.  He has a particular interest in medical education (formerly at the University of Bristol and currently at Guy’s Hospital, KCL), and his research interests include the immuno-pharmacology of the inflammatory skin diseases, atopic dermatitis, and psoriasis.

Dr Gayle Appleby

Dr Harpreet Sood

Dr Harpreet Sood, is currently Senior Fellow, to the Chairman and Chief Executive’s Office of NHS England. Harpreet trained as a clinical doctor at King’s College London and Imperial College Business School and practiced as an academic trainee in East London. Following this he did a Masters in Public Health (MPH) at Harvard University where he focused on international health policy and co-founded a digital health start-up. Post MPH, Harpreet was a Deland Fellow in health policy and management at Brigham and Women’s Hospital, a large academic medical centre in Boston. Harpreet’s portfolio of work at NHS England includes implementing the National Diabetes Prevention Programme.
